My mom would still not believe me !

It has been more than 9 months since I have been here in US.  Now I'm pursuing my new life. Sometimes I wonder how quickly I adjust to a new environment. It was very hard for me to leave my family right after the wedding. I was pretty much accustomed to the life at  home and left with mixed feelings.

Here is my big secret. By the time I came to USA, I haven't prepared a single meal, either for myself or anyone else, by myself. Actually I had a bit of guilty feeling about not trying it before. On the other hand I was scared what my husband (Ajith) would say about my cooking ability. The first night Ajith prepared the  dinner. Second day I observed him rather than helping him. The third day, there was no choice, I had to do it since he had to go to school. No worries. Both of us enjoyed the experience :) It gave me confidence and I felt that I can cook something :)

Gradually I tried several recipes and I'm still doing it since the feedback about my meals is not bad. When I talk to my Mom, I let her know about my cooking progress. She is proud of me. But I'm pretty sure she doubts whether I can do it as well as I say :) I can feel the disbelief in her voice :))  It seems I'll have to wait some more time to really prove my cooking skills to my loving mom :)

My first ever blog post !

This is my first ever blog post , and I'm excited to enter the whole new world of self publishing :) I don't have any strong opinions on politics, economics or anything else for that matter so this blog will hopefully be politically neutral :) It'll mostly likely be my thoughts on the culture divide between USA and Sri Lanka, my cooking tips for the ladies and perhaps simple accounts of our travels across the US.

My husband Ajith is helping me as an editor / moderator and occasional contributor to this blog. He has been blogging for a while (5+ years) but hasn't updated anything this year !
